The Hong Kong Young Writers Award is an annual writing competition calling for entries from schools all over Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China. The prestigious awards ceremony was hosted by well-known Hong Kong based writer Nury Vittachi. The theme of the competition this year was the Yangtze River. Constance Chan Yan Chuen of 4B was shortlisted to be published in the annual anthology. The anthology showcases the best entries of the competition and will be on display in Bookazine stores all over Hong Kong. Constance’s 3,000-word story, entitled ‘The River’, tells the tale of Kang, a young Chinese boy with a vivid imagination drawn into the conflict of war during the Japanese occupation. His fate is tied to the endangered pink dolphins that were once a common sight along the Yangtze River. Congratulations to Constance on such an amazing achievement!
