Dr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson visited the school on 14 April 2012 on their way to Guillin. It was interesting that Ursula Johnson is the great niece of our fourth Headmistress, Mrs. Elisabeth Tutcher (1906-1918). She told us that Mrs. Tutcher’s husband, William James Tutcher, was the Superintendent of the Hong Kong Botanical Garden in 1910, and later the Superintendent of the HK Botanical and Forestry Department. In fact, a number of Tutcheria plants in the Botanical Garden nowadays were named after him.
Dr. and Mrs. Johnson brought us some precious pictures of the turn of the century and told us stories about the background of Mrs. Elisabeth Tutcher.
It is amazing how people could get connected with the blessing of technology!
