A group of 48 students visited the Zero Carbon Building which was developed by the Construction Industry Council to promote good practices in the construction industry in relation to sustainable construction. There are many environmentally friendly features in the design of the building: precise orientation of the building to enhance effective ventilation via natural wind, desiccant dehumidification to avoid overcooling of air for humidity control in the air-conditioning system, high-volume-low-speed ceiling fans to enhance air movement. Besides, a bio-diesel tri-generator was built to generate electricity from bio-waste, and a hybrid photovoltaic panel was built to generate electricity from solar energy.
