The Annual Prize-giving Day of Belilios Public School was held on 6 December 2013. It was a great honour to have the distinguished alumnus, Nellie Fong Wong Kut-man JP, who is the Gold Bauhinia Star recipient and the National Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference as our guest of honour.
The Principal, Mr Chan Tsze-ying, congratulated the prize-winners on their outstanding academic achievements, with Lai Ka-yan achieving five Level 5** and two Level 5* in the HKDSE Examination. The students’ achievements in various international and local competitions ranging from music to sports are equally commendable. Mr Chan also expressed his gratitude to Mrs Nellie Fong for inviting successful local celebrities such as Sir David Akers Jones to have inspiring dialogues with our students in the English Speaking Leagues Programme.
In her speech, Mrs Fong reminisced that ever since her school days at BPS, she has always been the most hardworking person and an active leader, which is manifested in her active involvement in the public affairs of Hong Kong and her praiseworthy diligence in the meetings on the Transfer of Sovereignty over Hong Kong with the Chinese government. She also encouraged the students to polish both their English and Putonghua skills in order to be global citizens.
The ceremony ended on a high note with the winning performances of English and Chinese speech recitals, traditional Serbian dance, and orchestral and choral music.
